It is not often that a person's name suggests their life's work but in the case of Tom Flowers, his surname has professional significance. Tom is a principal and CEO of Sanctum, an Atlanta based landscape architectural design-build firm specializing in the creation of extraordinary spaces on upscale projects throughout the Southeast.
Tom started his first landscape design business prior to graduation in 1976. Since then, he has worked with prominent residential and commercial clients across the metro Atlanta area including Country Club of the South, The Vines Botanical Gardens and instructs at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.
After almost 30 years of professional practice, Tom is intrigued by the components that make sustainable and environmentally responsive design an ongoing challenge. He says, "The crucial challenge is to comprehend the client's vision and the expert capability to harmonize that dream within existing surroundings. This is treacherous territory because the needs and solutions are rarely readily apparent. Through a proper design planning process you can reveal clues about the types of spaces that are most appropriate for them."
Tom takes an active role in every Sanctum project. He interviews each client to fully explore lifestyle goals, aspirations, and project financial feasibility.
